about

One of Chicago's finest house producers and songwriters, Robert Owens established himself within the golden era of house as part of Fingers Inc. in the 80s, before his work as a solo artist propelled him to legendary status. Now he revisits chart-topping 1992 solo release, 'I'll Be Your Friend', with innovative producer Nolan on Faith. The modern classic has seen a few different iterations over the years, but this latest collaboration with Brighton's underground maverick reinvents the track like never before. Signature elements that made the original so arresting return with a shiny new coat; a sleek, sultry bassline creeps in as Owens's vocals take centre stage with an almost free-time feel, before the brass stabs pierce through the record with ease.
